The Blue Flag Program is a voluntary program that has become an international standard of excellence for beaches worldwide.

Blue flags are awarded to beaches and marinas that meet strict criteria for water quality, environmental education, environmental management, and safety and services.

Grand Bend North beach was the first location in Lambton County to earn Blue Flag status in 2008, followed by Canatara Park beach in 2014.

Grand Bend and Port Franks marinas also have Blue Flag status.
