Whether it's a leisure trip, mission trip, or a visit to friends and family, as soon as you begin planning it is a good idea to contact Lambton Public Health for a personalized Travel Health Appointment to ensure you are protected with the correct vaccines and medications.

Lambton Public Health does not provide travel health counselling over the phone. All travellers must book an appointment by calling 519-383-8331 ext. 3809 or toll free 1-800-667-1839.

Appointment Information

At least 3 months before you plan to leave, call to make a travel health appointment. It can take eight (8) weeks to complete some immunizations, and proof of vaccines may be required to enter some countries.

During your appointment, a public health nurse will ask about:

  • Your travel plans
  • Previous immunizations
  • Your health status

We provide:

  • Information about potential health risks in your destination areas
  • On-site vaccines, if needed
  • Prescription for anti-malaria medication, if needed
  • Take-home information kit specific to your destination

OHIP does not pay for travel medicine services; travellers must pay for vaccines. Lambton Public Health will provide receipts for drug plan coverage.
