Harm Reduction Program

This page was reviewed or revised on Thursday, June 7, 2018 3:35 PM

Lambton Public Health's Harm Reduction Program focuses on practical ideas and strategies to reduce the risks associated with drug use and other risky health behaviours.

The program is:

  • community-based
  • user-driven
  • non-judgmental

The program ensures priority populations have access to harm reduction services and supports necessary to adopt healthy behaviours and practices that prevent exposure to and the transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood-borne infections between individuals in our community, such as:

  • HIV
  • Hepatitis C and B
  • Various STIs

For some, abstaining from drugs may not be desirable or realistic.

Lambton Public Health actively improves and provides FREE access to:

  • Sterile, single-use injection and inhalation supplies
  • Safe disposal of used equipment
  • Education about safer drug use practices
