Course Description

The Food Handler Certification Program is designed to teach food handlers the general principles of safe food handling. This course will provide the food handler with the basic knowledge to identify risk factors associated with food borne illness and the skills necessary to handle food in a manner that will prevent illness from occurring.

The course is based on the principles of sanitary food service and hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) procedures.

Register online (click the class dates above) or visit our office to process payment at Lambton Public Health during business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost of the course is $40.00. Online payments will include an additional service charge fee that is indicated at the time of payment.

Certification is valid for five (5) years from date of issue.

Course Location: Lambton Public Health, 160 Exmouth Street, Point Edward ON.


Participants who achieve a minimum of 70% on the food handler's exam will receive a Lambton Public Health Food Handler Certificate. This certificate meets mandatory food safety training requirements and is recognized by health units in Ontario.

Certification is valid for five (5) years from date of issue.
