Child Car Seat Safety Checks

This page was reviewed or revised on Friday, March 16, 2018 1:51 PM

Child car seat checks will be booked by appointment only on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.. Child car seat checks will be held at two different locations, depending on the season:

April to October: 160 Exmouth Street, Point Edward (Lambton Public Health - Main Office)

November to May: 150 North Christina Street, Sarnia (Bayside Centre underground parking lot)

Important Information:

  • A technician will guide the parent / caregiver on how to check and install the child car seat. The technician will NOT install your car seat. You must bring someone with you that can assist with installing the car seat if you are not able to do this yourself.
  • The car seat must be installed by the parent/caregiver before attending the appointment.
  • Bring the car seat manual and the vehicle manual to the appointment.
  • Bring the child to ensure the car seat is properly fitted to the child and properly installed.
  • Expectant parents should plan to have their car seat checked 6 weeks before their due date.

Save time: Before reading your manual, watch a car seat installation video online at the manufacture's website or the Lambton Public health child car seat safety page.
