Area beach Sampling Begins

This page was reviewed or revised on Friday, June 01, 2012 9:28 AM

Lambton County, ON – The County of Lambton Community Health Services Department will begin beach sampling for the 2012 season on Monday, June 4, 2012. Sampling will occur weekly until Labour Day.

Beaches Sampled on Lake Huron:

  • Grand Bend (North Beach)
  • Grand Bend (South Beach)
  • Highland Glen
  • Bright's Grove (including Mike Weir Park)
  • Canatara Park
  • Pinery Provincial Park
  • Ipperwash Main Beach

While no sampling occurs along the St. Clair River, a caution sign advising of high bacteria levels following heavy rainfall has been permanently placed at:

  • Branton Cundick Park
  • Brander Park

It should be noted that following heavy rainfall, the water at area beaches may be temporarily polluted for up to 48 hours. Also, if the water has become cloudy due to wave activity, bacteria from the bottom may become suspended and increase the risk of illness.

Water quality information is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling the Beach Water Quality Information Line 519 383-3816, toll free 1-800-667-1839 ext. 3816 or visit www.lambtonhealth.on.ca.
