This page was reviewed or revised on Friday, January 25, 2019 10:59 AM

Point Edward, ON - Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a COLD WEATHER ALERT for Lambton County based on the latest forecast from Environment Canada predicting the temperature to meet the threshold of -15oC overnight.

The alert is expected to remain in effect until Saturday, January 26, 2019. The Medical Officer of Health will not issue a Cold Weather Alert termination.

A cold alert is issued when there is a daily low temperature of -15oC or lower; when Environment Canada and Climate Change issues a wind chill warning; or during extreme weather conditions.

During a cold weather alert:

  • Individuals should take precautions when heading outdoors by dressing in layers, shielding exposed areas from the wind such as head, neck and face, and limiting time spent outdoors.
  • Local agencies that provide shelter and assistance to homeless people should prepare for an increase in demand.
  • Know how to identify the signs and symptoms of overexposure to cold, including hypothermia. Learn more at
