'Recommendations for Action' Report Released

Sarnia, ON - The Lambton County Community Food Assessment Task Force unveiled 10 recommendations for action designed to achieve its vision that "all Lambton County residents have the access, knowledge and skills needed to eat healthy, local food."

The report, Recommendations for Action 2016, describes asset and gap analysis, community priority setting and the development of recommendations for action. The report is the second phase of the Let's Talk Food Lambton Community Food Assessment.

Recommendations and multiple actions that address short-term concerns, build capacity, and promote long-term food system change include:

  • Healthy food in food deserts
  • Local food availability
  • Value local food
  • Food knowledge and skills
  • Transportation to access food
  • Affordable housing near food
  • Household food insecurity
  • Healthy and local food in broader public sector
  • Healthy school food environments
  • Food system connections
