Historically, food has played a large role in the spread of human diseases. Food-borne illness (better known as food poisoning) can happen to anyone. Millions of cases happen in Canada each year. Lambton Public Health attempts to reduce or prevent food-borne illness from happening.

Food safety is a mandatory program under the Ontario Public Health Standards that Lambton Public Health must to deliver to the public.
