On Friday, July 21, "find your happy place" and a tobacco-free place at Sarnia's Youth CHAT (Community Health Action Team) Tobacco-Free Outdoor Movie Night featuring the animated movie 'Trolls'

The FREE event runs from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. at Clearwater Park behind the YMCA and Clearwater Arena. Activities before the movie begin at 7 p.m.; the movie starts at dusk.

"Almost 40% of youth start smoking because of what they see in movies," says Katie Lindemann, Youth CHAT member. "Unfortunately, Hollywood glamorizes tobacco use in movies, and movies that contain tobacco should be rated 18A. That would reduce the number of youth who smoke."
"We want youth to see that tobacco-free movies are fun to watch, and Trolls sends a positive message that it's important to take care of yourself, and each other."

Trolls is an all-ages movie; parents are encouraged to attend. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. In addition to the movie, Youth CHAT and its partners, the City of Sarnia and the Healthy Kids Community Challenge Lambton Partners, will provide free popcorn, interactive games, contests, prizes and a Troll dance party.
Tyler Rankin, Youth CHAT member, says "The majority of adults in Ontario support smoke-free movies. This is our 7th movie night and every year we get more and more thumbs up from the parents. We are making progress."

Parents can show support to remove smoking from movies by signing a petition, and talking with Youth CHAT members about the issue, and to ask questions.
